Union Government determined to improve terrorism infested No

What ails north east of India? What is the basic cause of separatism and inflating terrorism in this part of India? Well, these two can be considerably placed vital questions in any curriculum, but, undoubtedly, it has also been perturbing the Union Government for some years at a stretch. After several fact-finding teams and extensive researches of years the government has at last come to the conclusion that gross underdevelopment or infrastructure deficiency has been the most formidable cause behind all these ongoing aberrations.

These concerns found true expression, in the recent days, when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, terming the entire scenario as a "major concern" introduced the project of linking of all state capitals in the northeast by rail to ensure better connectivity. To the assertion of the government a budget of Rs 31,000 crores has already been sanctioned for the improvement of roads.

The project has been named 'Vision Document 2020 for the North-Eastern Region' and at the time of releasing it the honorable PM stated that, other than developing rail and air connectivity, the government is steadfast towards the development of road facilities there in the Eleventh Plan.

Speaking on this Dr. Singh told, "Infrastructure deficiency is a major concern in the region. We will link all the state capitals in the region by rail network and Rs 31,000 crore will be invested on roads during the 11th plan." What is more describing the whole region as the land of the rising sun for India, he said time has come "for the sun to shine brightly on it. Vision document defines the path to that bright future."

But the government dream does not seem to end here! He also made it clear that in short days to come a complete and proficient green-field airport will emerge at Itanagar to connect the region with the rest of the country and also to improve the air connectivity. Apart from this, perhaps keeping the alleged intrusion of Chinese troops in concern, the PM assured that the coming days will also witness the complete electrification of all villages on the Arunachal Pradesh border, at a cost of Rs. 50 crores.

The northeast council, in the meanwhile, has also approved the Vision Document.
